About MaterialCalc

MaterialCalc is a set of free calculators for the most common landscaping materials: mulch, gravel, topsoil, sod, and pavers. Each one converts the measurements you actually take — feet and inches — into the units suppliers actually sell: cubic yards, bags, tons, rolls, and pallets.

The math uses industry-standard assumptions (2 cubic foot mulch bags, 10 square foot sod rolls, typical stone densities, a 4-inch compacted paver base) and always rounds up, so a project doesn't stall a few bags short. Results are estimates: materials vary by region and supplier, so confirm final quantities when you place an order.
